What about the situation where you want to top up a ticket for a one off
journey. eg I live in Zone 2 and once in a blue moon catch the train to
Dandenong to visit some friends in Doveton. As I buy a monthly Zone 1&2
(or Zone 2 now) ticket, when I visit them I buy a Zone 3 2hr ticket from
the booking office at Flinders Street as I have already paid for travel
in Zones 1&2 on my monthly. Does this mean the 'even more convenient
than human ticket seller' machines won't let me do this and instead
force me to either travel illegally or pay yet again for the privilege
of travelling in Zones I have already paid for?
Sounds like I might be driving to Dandenong instead if this is the
case.
