I think you mean 1987, CTC wasn't even thought of in 1977. By 1980 the distant
and home on the same post was gone and Stawells up distant was moved way out
and was motor operated. What was the distant became an outer home I believe.
I'm pretty sure the up distant was moved out at the same time auto staff
exchangers were provided. (The Jungwirth/Lambert book has all the dates of
these changes)

BTW they are called ""distant" signals NOT "distance" signals.
