The Overland can and does arrive Adelaide early. It also arrives late!

There is no reason to hold it if there are no wayside passengers and
there
is a clear path.

Often a late arrival in Adelaide is due to a late running freight.

The performance of this light train is quite impressive through the
Adelaide Hills: 20 minutes Belair - Keswick the day I travelled on a
couple of years ago.

I have been to Keswick at 8:45 (its scheduled arrival time) and found
that not only is it in, the motorail wagon has been shunted off and the
cars are on their way to the carwash.
