G'day!

The recently released ACTION FOR TRANSPORT 2010 plan from the current
NSW State Government does not indicatge that there are any proposals
for the Casino-Murwillumbah branch, either by upgrading or the
construction of deviations.

The Report indicates: "The State Government is committed to maintain
all current Countrylink services, including the Xplorer services to
Armidale and Moree ... As a part of a 10 year $360 million improvement
package, refurbishments and upgrades wil be made to the Countrylink
rail and coach fleet. A detailed assessment will begin to commission
replacement rolling stock."

Thus, the current Government intends to retain the XPT service to
Murwillumbah over the next few years.

Without making a total political issue out of it, at least the current
Government has come out of the woodwork to speel out its plans for
rail and road. All one has to do is decide whether to believe it!

I am still waiting for the Opposition Minster for Transport to come
out with the Liberal / National Party transport policty/programme to
2010 and beyond!

Hunslet.
