This is how it worked when I was a fireman at Wodonga.

Northbound Aurora: VR loco would uncouple with the motorail attached. NSW
shunter would couple to motorail, uncouple it from the VR loco and take it down
to the south end and couple it to the rear. VR loco would turn and then go back
to Wodonga.

Southbound Aurora: VR loco would run light to Wodonga and wait at the south end
of no 2 road at Albury. Aurora would arrive and NSW loco with Motorail attached
would uncouple and go south leaving enough room for VR loco to clear the
points. VR loco would then head south out of 2 and back onto the train. NSW
loco woul then push the Motorail into No 2 road where NSW shunter would get the
Motorail and take it to the rear and attach it.
