Demolition of Lidcombe station proceeding

Last Thurs The station building on Plat 1 at Lidcombe was demolished to make
way for the Olympic trackworks.  The window with the old station name was
set aside, unfortunately outside a fence, as it was pinched within 24 hrs
(the rest of the window is still there).

The Lamp room on plat 4 was demolished on Sat morn, and there is a Bob Cat
fenced in on Plats 2/3 island platform.  The future of the buildings here is
therefore shakey.  Get your photos soon.

The plan seems to be rebuild Lidcombe as an Olympic interchange on the
Eastern side of the road overbridge, with an extra platform or two.  The
current station is on the West side. Space seems to be being cleared for
this - the shed which used to house track machine has been dismantled.
