Re: Accident at Pakenham this week? Dandenong to be exact!

Just received an article of "The Journal" (a weekly suburban newspaper),
about the recent level crossing accident at Webster Street, Dandenong.
The collision between a north-bound (towards Princess Highway) semi
trailer and a Gippsland-bound freight train occured just before 4pm last
Friday.  The truck container "was chopped in half" and a large
consignment of Bodalla cheese and butter (bound for Brisbane) spilt
across the road and track.  According to the ambulance staff, "He (the
truck driver) had travelled halfway across the tracks and narrowly
avoided hitting a passenger train before the impact".  From the
accompanying photograph, boom gates and pedestrian protective gates on
the north side of the track were damaged.
