I was on a 620class going to Dungog late last year, and the following
occured.

As we rounded the bend on the approach to Wallarobba Tunnell we heard two
detonators explode. The driver had a spit (I was in the cab) and swore and
cursed because "we're f@#*& late enough already" then about two seconds
later the train jumped and lurched to the left and then the right and then
kept going.

On the return from Dungog we heard no dets, but slowed to 20 kp/h anyway and
saw that there was a small buckle in the left rail, and as a result the
right rail had been bodged up by sticking a half foot long piece of rail in
the gap.and then putting two plate/rail joiner thingys on the rail.

As we approached the level crossing a few hundred meters south, there was
the R.S.A. truck with five men packing up and going home.

The next day there was a 25kp/h limit over the line there, but nothing had
been done.
