We Queenslanders (Geez, I thought I'd never say that) need to contribute
more to this ng. This thread and others seem to indicate that southerners
think Qld is a bit of a railway backwater when in fact the real railway
happenings in Australia are in Qld and WA. The problems of the Overland may
be of interest to a few enthusiasts but in real hauling terms the Qld coal
lines beat everywhere in Aust. QR is the longest and biggest freight hauling
system in the country outside the WA iron ore lines. Not only that we also
have the sugar industry and its fleet of can trains.
