The pantograph is not a good way of telling whether a car is a motor car or
not. All D cars have a drivers cab, but not all of them have a pantograph.
Tangaras do, but Single deck D cars don't. A D car is a "Driving Control
Trailer" All C cars have a drivers cab, but some of them do have pantographs.
S and R sets do, but K and C sets don't.

That would have been on a K or S/R set. There are 4 K sets which are only two
carriages, comprising of a C car and a D car. There only four K set D cars,
being D4096, D4097, D4098 and D4099. They are coupled to C3501, C3502, C3503
and C3504. The S/R set D cars are all in the range from D4001 to D4095, but
only D4001 through to D4010 are still able to be operated as driving cars. As
the Goninan refurbishments continue, cars D4011 to D4095 are being converted to
T cars, with the drivers cab and guards compartments being removed.

This is not a trailer car. It is a Non-Control Motor Car.
