Warrnambool Line Upgrade

Among other things in the state budget, the Warrnambool line is to be
finally upgraded to 1990's standards, with welding of the
Geelong-Warrnambool rails.

As well as the obvious things like improving ride, reducing maintenance
costs etc, this is without doubt a vote of confidence in the long-term
future of the Warrnambool line itself. It is the last mainline in
Victoria to be welded.

$5 million will be spent this coming year to weld the track, and $5
million in the next year for sleepering, ballasting etc.

Can't say I'll be sorry when the 'clickety-clack' disappears :)

Cheers,
CH.
