I was looking up something else in ausrail archives, and found a whole set
of posts there which I have never seen via my isp.

My post about the renaming occurring in 1907 was obtained by looking up
Sunshine references. The renaming occurred in Dec.1906, and was announced
in Weekly Notice 50/06, dated 10.12.1906. The first Weekly Notice item
under the heading of Sunshine was the relocation of a signal in Sept.1907.

The Bulletin article on the 20.4.1908 disaster mentions that the former
name was still in widespread use at the time. This is hardly surprising.
A decade after Pioneer Quarries took over the quarry at Kilmore East,
railway employees and enthusiasts still refer to the train as the 'Apex',
after the former owner.
