This was for the Maldon-Dombarton railway, This was going to be a direct coal
line linikng the mountains and the south coast. After satering work and
upgrading track, the track was upgraded from Unanderra to Dombarton and this is
where the the overhead oles start and finish aswell. There was a tunnel
partially built just past Dombarton, but after the project was cancled. the
borring machine was partailly dismantlled and taken away, I believe part of it
is now sealed up in the Avon tunnel. I have been inside the tunnel and the is
nothing of much use left. The was also the start of a rather large bridge to
span the gourge near Maldon. I have taken photo's of this but have not scanned
them, for photo's try Dave Johnson's homepage
<http://www.ozemail.com.au/~trainman/> as he has some pictures there. There is
alot more info but I can not be bothered going into it. maybe someone else would
like to fill in some important gaps.
