Double Stacking in NSW

I have been quite interested in the station upgrading in Sydney's
metropolitan (or is ot metropolis) region of late. The stations seemed to
be having their overbridges raised.

Is this because the SRA/RAC wish to introduce double stacked trains through
Sydney, or just some weird maintenance criteria impossed by some weird
thinking engineer???

Please help me
