Jolimont Rationalisation Project (JRP)
Closure of the Flinders Street Yard:
-
All train stabling sidings throughout FS yard will be decommissioned by
March 1997.
-
New maintenance facilities at North Melbourne to be completed by the end
of October.
-
New siding at Burnley for 6 trains - 3 November 1997
-
Additional sidings at Camberwell for 4 trains - 2 December 1997
-
Maintenance facility at Westall, with stabling for 7 trains - 29 January
1998

Maintenance facility at Bayswater, with stabling for 2 trains - 12 February
1998

The light Repair centers (LRC) at Westall and Bayswater to be equipped
like the Macaulay LRC.

Cleaning like at North Melbourne also at Burnley.
As new sites become available closure of that part at Flinders Street.
New timetable to be implemented on 8 February 1998 to cater for the
full closure of FS yard.
Flinders Street - Richmond track Simplification and upgrade
With the removal of the sidings at FS the track will be simplified
to 12 main lines each with a running speed of 80 km/h. This will
be completed by the end of 1999 in 6 stages.

1 (15 - 30 Nov. 1997) A continuous occupation
of the four Burnley group lines and platform 2 & 3 at FS. An
altered timetable for this period has been developed.

2 (21 Mar - 13 Apr 1998) A continuous
occupation of the four Caulfield group lines and platform 6 & 7 at
FS. An altered timetable for this period is currently being developed.

3 (July, 1998) Same with the Special
lines and Plat 8 & 9 at FS.

4 (Cot, 1998) Same with the Sandringham
lines and Plat 12 & 13 at FS.

5 (Dec, 1998) Same with the Clifton
Hill lines and Plat 14 at FS.

6 (Mar, 1998) Same with the four Burnley
lines (again).
