Rob reckon's VFT good idea.

The Premier of Queensland was on Radio News up here in
the NT praising the Melbourne to Darwin VFT.
Amongst other things he says it will help stop the
population drift to the East Coast.!
Perhaps they can employ people to keep the Cattle and
Kangaroos from stepping in front of a 200 clicks plus
train.

I saw first hand what happened to one of AN's Loco's
when it ploughed into a mob of cattle South of Alice
Springs not long after the TAS line was opened, it was
only doing a shade over 80 Km/h. They had to bring
fitters out from Alice with a gas axe to cut the
pilot/cowcatcher/bullbar (your choice) off from the
leading bogie. The place looked like an abattoirs.

Imagine a train doing over 200 hitting a mob of cattle
or sheep, let alone a car or truck.?

The cost of fencing and building under or over passes
would be unbelievable for this distance, not to mention
the access, natural migration and wanderings of Native
and Station stock, I bet they have not even thought of
that.

Cheers
