BHP and RTM news

8039 and 8015 have both been returned to Sydney. I was told it was because
8035 had been put in the dirt somewhere and 8015 had some mechanical
problem, possibly only the handbrake.
Bronzewing and D6 will be doing tours around the Steelworks on the October
long weekend (4/5/6) for the Florawarra festival.
Bronzewing and SMR18 are doing an evening dinner tour on 4/10 around the
steelworks and up to Kemira, with a 2 course dinner supplied at the end.
The cost is $22 adults/$15 children and it is leaving from the BHP visitors
centre at 4.45pm. For tickets contact David on 02 42757863.
If you want to see Bronzewing in action the long weekend would be a good
time to come, as due to cost cutting in BHP Steel future operations could
be severely restricted.

4490 has had generator repairs and one bogie equalising beam repaired.
4306 has had a replacement oil cooler fitted, some piping still to be
connected. 2 heads have been removed to replace failed o-rings on water
passages.
If 4306 is finished in time the next Barrington Tops tour will consist of
4306 leading, 4520, 4490 nose trailing. Only 2 locos will be running.
4306 will also most likely be going to Moree with the tour to Moree/North
Star. 5910 is also going but will be towed by the diesels on the overnight
sections to save coal costs.
