8217 didn't have much of a run from MSS-GEX, we departed 9 late at
13:38, so 8232 used
the loop at WIA and we used the platform (14:05-6) recovering most of
the defecit, then ran
to time throughout, arr WMB 15:47, 3 early. A62 (pass services livery)
was at WMB.
Quiet and on-time run with 8246, 8237 must've been a couple down, we
didn't get away from
WIA's loop until 19:30, arr GEX on time 19:57, and arrived MSS at 21:00,
4 early.

Noted the greaser in the new SRV depot at Newport
2 G's hauled a train of 'bullets' off the grain loop as we passed over

8217 dep GEX 6 late at 13:35, 8232 was late arriving at WIA at 14:13, so
we were quite late
getting away from the loop at 14:16, arriving at WMB 11 late at 16:01.
A78 was at WMB
8246 did better, we crossed X42 on 8237 at WIA, then made a special stop
at SOG to detrain
a large group (19:52-4), reaching GEX on time 19:57, then arrive at MSS

Parallel running with an up NRC train, with NR89 leading BL29 (NR
colours starting to fade -
the grey was looking more like a shade of aqua) on 31 vehicles
Tues 16/9, unusual shift, per 7:46, then assist on 8207 (acc Warrnambool
day tours), then
return on 8232 WMB-MSS, with S311,PCP292, ACZ255,BZ269,BRS223,BS206 on
the up,
not sure which loco on 8207 (same cars).
GEX loco on the down had G515, S306, G511, S301, X39
On the up, ran close to time, stopping 13:58-14:03 at WIA home sig
(while 8217 was put
away), arr GEX 14:32, dep 14:34, and despite a poor run to MSS (stop 4
mins Altona Jcn,
then follow a spark in), we arrived just 1 late at 15:31. Noticed the
BHP liveried Y class at
SRV's new depot.

Noted 'Sydney 2000' powercar at the West end of the XPT

On the 11:55, noted CLF2+GM42 up SCT at Laverton, 12:19

8217 dep GEX 1 late, good cross at WIA, lost a couple of mins at CDN,
with yours truly and
the station staff flexing some muscle to unload a BRUTE trolley of
luggage (3 mins), arrived 4
late at WMB, 15:54. A78 at WMB
Unventful run on 8246, another good cross at WIA allowed arrival 4 early
at GEX (19:53),
where X40 was sitting in siding 'A' or 'B' (behind the former signal box
at the up end of the
platform)
We were briefly held outside WBE (20:33-34), but made MSS on time at
21:04

Kensington didn't help (21:01-3), and arrive MSS at 21:11, 7 late.

added to the front of the train for 8246.
On the 11:55, crossed what appeared to be G+CLF (nose facing West) on
the up Patricks at
Altona Nth 12:12.

Not much better on the up, dep WMB 2 late at 17:37 (a/c late pax), arr

On the 11:55, noted G+S at NOG C box facing Maryborough with 'bullets',
and A?? shunting
cement wagons at NOG B box.
8217 dep GEX 3 late, lost time at WIA acc late arrival at 8232 (B76 with
6 cars), departing
the loop at 14:15, and arriving at WMB 16:04 (14 late).
8246 struggled a bit, losing time most of the way home, arrive MSS 5
late at 21:09.
Mond 29/9 - HO
Noted NR101 in MSS P1's SG runaround at 7:45. Apparently there had been
a derailment
somewhere in NRC territory, and there was nowhere else for the NR to go
in order to be out
of the way of the inbound XPT and Overland.
