Peter Neve raised the issue of VR's 762 mm gauge lines, which I did not
mention in my reply to an earlier post (I hadn't thought that they were
relevant to the question). There was virtually no dual gauge (short
sections of track in some interchange yards, including Moe turntable).
SEC used 900 mm.
The Fyansford quarry line used 1067 mm gauge.
There were 610 mm gauge industrial railways too.
Timber tramways used a multiplicity of gauges (most of which could not be
specified to the nearest mm, or even the nearest inch).
