The first sign of the expansion of services under the new ownership of
Great Southern Railway Passenger Ltd is the announcement that the second
Ghan service will continue throughout the year. This takes effect from 1
December 1997.
There will be two services all year round to the following schedule:
Depart Adelaide Monday and Thursday every week at 2.00pm
Arrive Alice Springs Tuesday and Friday at 10.00am
Depart Alice Springs Tuesday and Friday every week at 2.00pm
Arrive Adelaide Wednesday and Saturday at 10.00am
A range of discounted fares on the additional Monday/Tuesday Ghan
service between
1 December 1997 and 31 March 1998 for passengers are also available:
