4 carriages (power car, state coach, dining coach and observation
coach) are due in Brisbane Saturday 18/10 attached to "Spirit of the
ropics". They will go to Acacia Ridge for transhipment to standard
gauge bogies.
On Monday 20/10, they are due to do test runs with a National Rail
loco between Acacia Ridge and Glenapp.
On Friday 24/10, they will be reconverted to narow gauge and two more
cars (galley car and lounge car) will leave Townsville and arrive in
Brisbane on Saturday 25/10.
All 6 cars will be on display at the QR Ball at platform 10 at Roma
Street on Sat. 25/10.
On Sun. 26/10, the 6 cars will go to Acacia Ridge for bogie exchange.
On Tues 28/10, more tests runs to Glenapp.
On Thurs 30/10, the special will leave Roma Street at 13.00 for Sydney
and Melbourne for the Ausrail exhibition assuming all tests prove
satisfactory.
