The Swan Street route is only as quiet as it is because of disruptions to
the service that occur due to traffic (car and human) generated by major
sporting events and concerts. This is a disaster area at those times.

It is quicker for Wattle Park line passengers to change to route 75 trams
to avoid this bottleneck.

Patronage on Wattle Park line would probably increase if diverted via
Bridge Road. This would also restore a frequent tram service to Bridge
Road where patronage has fallen dramatically after withdrawal of Route 28
short workings.

The new line will only be effective if trams are separated from cars.
