It is interesting to see the 9:17 Belgrave train from Flinders Street at
stations like Glenferrie. The PID (whatever) thing says "Express Service" This
is because the stopping conditions for the train is Flinders Street, Richmond,
Glenferrie, Camberwell, Box Hill, Blackburn, Mitcham, Ringwood, Boronia, Upper
Ferntree Gully, and Belgrave. The PID thing lists the stations ie stops xxx,
xxx and xxx only.

A lot of people go off the train at Richmond (from Ringwood) and as all trains
going direct have to go into Platform 7 during these works to get to the
Caulfield lines, they went and stood waiting for a train to come into Platform
8. The station PA then told them to go to platform 5 or 3 for a City loop
train.

There are. I have in my little hand four temp. timetables.
1. Belgrave/Lilydale Weekdays (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu and Fri)
2. Belgrave/Lilydale Weekends (Sat and Sun)
3. Glen Waverley Daily (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat and Sun)
4. Alamein Daily (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat and Sun)

So you can see that on the Glen Waverley and Alamein temp. timetables sat and
sun is on them and there is a separate timetable for Belgrave/Lilydale

During the morning peek Belgrave/Lilydale trains use the Caulfield up lines to
FS (which are not use by trains from Caulfield because they use the loop) and
Belgrave/Lilydale down trains use the Burnley loop as Caulfield trains use the
down lines from FS. The opposite in the afternoon. If you left the loop going
the same direction then you would have all Caulfield trains and
Belgrave/Lilydale trains using the same tracks going the same way and there
would be too much congestion.
