The standard gauge run round facilities at Roma Street have not been
removed. One turnout was removed during the reconstruction of the
subway but was reinstated when work was completed. However, the loop
has now been placed out of use but left intact. When the Great South
Pacific Express left recently for Melbourne, the run round loop
suddenly became available again.
