The thing is they were made to cope with this. The problem with Adelaide
is reversing the train. Keswick was designed for this, Adelaide wasn't.
Sydney is only just able to handle a double length IP by splitting it.
If GSR run a double length IP via Melbourne and use Adelaide, it will have
to split and reversed at Adelaide and Melbourne. By using Keswick an IP
can run straight through.

Brisbane is also the end of the line. But still, a 26 car IP would have to
be split at Acacia Ridge and use both sg platforms.

A 26 car IP into Melbourne would need to be split at Tottenham or Dynon
and use platforms 1 and 2.

17 is still a long way from 26.

The only problem where the 26 car train is a problem is at terminals.

I've seen Spencer St take a 21 car Overland, but it was originating and
not reversing.
