IMHO, the S cars are the best of all country cars to travel in. The
compartment design makes them quieter, the timber panelling gives them
character, and again due to their compartment design, they are faster to
heat and cool than saloon type cars, due to the smaller area (if you
keep the compartment doors closed!). They're very cosy...although the
painted interior cars don't have the same appeal.

A pair of P's ran 8237 one Sunday night (see October Gunzelgram...when I
post it), returning on 8220 the next morning - we lost 3 mins MSS-GEX on
the down (dunno about the rest of the run), but on 8220 they arrived at
MSS on time! A tad deceiving, because a B/S loco always gets this train
into GEX up to 7 mins early - but still an impressive effort from the
little loco's. If B61's allowed across the Stratford River, a P class
should be too.....in all seriousness though, if they became redundant to
V/Line pass, V/Line Freight may use them to replace T's.

Would be much more attractive than A62's V/Line pass livery anyway! I
much preferred the orange/grey....
