They cannot build the station on top until they build the station
underneath. Because tunnelling would involve too large a hole under a
main line, they need to dig a hole, and build the roof, before trains
can run over the top. The Up and Down Illawarras now go over the new
roof, while the dig under the location of the Up Illawarra.

Trains went through on the Illawarra Locals.
