Ill winds

"It's an ill wind which blows nobody any good'. I often complain about
Melbourne's infrequent service and terrible connections at times at which
I want to travel.

To travel to a city theatre (usually 20.00 curtain), I must catch an
18.48 from Surrey Hills (Flinders St 19.08) or risk a 19.16 (Flinders St
19.40, with no connection to Parliament for 15 minutes).

Coming home I get no choice.

A feature completely unadvertised by the Met is that every
Lilydale/Belgrave departure in the evening is followed 5 minutes later by
a Sandringham direct to Richmond, overtaking the earlier train (which has
run via the loop). Twice in six days I have been at a show which
finished at 22.34, so that I just missed the 22.35 Lilydale, but did make
the 22.40 Sandringham and the tight change at Richmond.
