That is not an acceptable comparison. CityRail's official on-time
running for last week was 90% In addition, our figures are calculated
by saying that a train is late when it is 3 minutes behind schedule,
whereas The Met calculates their figures on 5 minutes. Comparisons
between the two cities are null and void while-ever the definition of
"late" differs. Even so, 90% of trains being less than 3 minutes late
has to be better than Melbourne where "80%-90%" of trains are less
than 5 minutes late.

As for the comments by David Hill, he had no choice but to say the
timetable was not working. The media has blown it out of all
proportion. Everybody loves to quote the 36% figure. This was on one
day only, where a Tangara expired in the City Underground. It is not
the norm. The timetable was to replaced on May 11th, and the Weekdays
Working Timetable was even issued, but when David Hill came in, he
cancelled this timetable, and ordered another re-write.
