I'm interested in what people think are the top 5 Railfan spots in each
state. What are the 5 locations that no serious railfan should/could miss.
You can use any criteria for choosing but your list must be limited to no
more than 5 sites in each state.

How about the following for starters (in no particular order):-

NSW

1/. Ardglen - bank engines, tunnel, railway owned quarry deep (in what used
to be) ALCO country.
2/. Thornton - 4 track main, lotsa coalies, Endeavours, XPTs,
Superfreighters.
3/. Bethungra - spiral, grade separation, over and under rail bridge.
4/. Zig Zag Box - ZZR, cape horn, tunnels, grades, wires, IP.
5/. the Flying Junctions - the brilliant Mr. Bradfield.

VIC

1/. Taradale Viaduct - THE Main Line
2/. Flinders Street Station - THE City Station
3/. Warrenheip - grades, parallel lines, what used to be.
4/. Horseshoe curves on the Belgrave side of Lakeside - narrow gauge
working hard 364 days of the year.
5/. I don't know - thats why I'm asking you!!!!!!
