Yep I was the Driver and one lovely lady who just happened to be a Dynon
Drivers Mum
[Gary Smith} with several stitches above the Left eye.
Funny thing was I got the job in Wodonga when Gary turned it down, So I
suppose the two people who were taken to hospital could have been Mother
and Son if Gary had come here instead of me.

The accident happened in full view of the Crew awaiting the train standing
on Wodonga Plat.
One Driver sprinted the 1000 meters to the train and assisted the
passengers to the outher end of the train as the truck was smocking badly,
and we expected it to burn

The less injured Driver was able to get the message on the end to end Radio
out, but when an incredulous operator Queeried the message soimeone in
blind panic began screaming garbage into the radio which in effect put my
mate off the air.

I can assure you at 1345 after wandering away from the loco back to the
Truckee to see if they had found him, I realised that I
didnt know if the lights were working, so I limped back to where I first
saw the Truck, and if you know the spot at all you would
realise he drove out of the shadow of Milos Cool Stores, very close to the
line, making the approach blind on the side the train was coming from, and
that to look left, he was looking into a brilliant Golden Haze. I stood out
side the shadow and looked towards Uncle Bens and the Crossing, and could
not tell the lights were flashing till I backed into the shade, and even
then it was not easy to see.

windscreen opaqued he was squinting!
