Hear Hear. WHen the work was needed on the D3, and it had to come to
Melbourne to get it done in reasonably quick time, the policy to which
Richard refers was raised. In UK the changing of numbers and colours
seems like clothes, and it has raised plenty of extra money. Our fans,
especially the non-members, are not always over-generous, and it all
ocsts heaps. The D3 overhaul was IIRC well over $40,000.

So there were two arguments to try it as its original identity -- as
which it ran in most of its real VR service -- and in black.

As has also been said, SRV only ever intended to run it in black and as
658 for a short period, the to revert to Canadian Red, and 639. This
was made plentifully clear to members all the way through. Perhaps if
more were to join, more would be better informed.
