OneLink has just installed longer barrier gates at Glenferrie. They
have been tested a few times and seems O.K. The MetCards are inserted
at the front and then passes through the machine just before the yellow
"flips" (barriers). Once the ticket is picked up by the passenger, the
flips open. These barriers are fully controlled by the computer inside
the booking office - ie. traffic flow, either bidirection, entry, or
exit only (emergency opening is also available). Finally, I have been
told that these larger barrier gates will only be found at premium
stations.

Hawthorn is currently staff from around 6.30am to 4pm to overcome the
logistic problem. I don't think the Met will upgrade these stations to
premium ones.
