F for FOUR MOTOR - A-1-A
S for SIX MOTOR - Co-Co
The letters F and S had nothing to do with "series" or
"phases", it was used as a simple reminder to Enginemen
when referring to their Train Loads and the Locos they
had on their Trains. ie; GM1's or GM12's that is ALL it
ever meant.!
The word "phase" and "series" was NEVER mentioned in
any Working Time Table that I have.
This is pure Model Railway Magazine "Poetic Licence" or
"modellers licence".
