Just talking to someone who came through on the IP. Appaently the self
restoring switches used in these loops to restore points to the main line
did not do so & stayed set up for the loop. The train crew were expecting
to have a straight run through. But also the visibility there is good, so
it is a bit strange that the crew did not spot the sighnal at orange
earlier. The loco & first few wagons made it through, the double stacks
were the first not to make it ac. their high centre of gravity & the rest
piled in behind.
Apparently the pile of wagons is app 5 stories high, fairly serious
carnage factor. Even better, my friend got the photos!!
They have constructed a diversion around the site for thru trains.
