Hi David

As I understand a BL+CL+2GM's had a trailing load of
13,331 tonnes.
This happened well before Freight Rail and I was making
the point that it was the heaviest Govt Train ever to
run up to that time ie, 1988.

BTW .... I did not mention that in August of 1988, AN
ran the heaviest regular Goods West when 2AL's 1CL 1GM
rolled 95 wagons out of Port Augusta for a trailing
load of 6,160 tonnes.

As I said, 1988 was a notable year for AN, arguably
their best, but the cold winds of change were about
to descend on them.
