I can remember when XPTs were first introduced on the North to Kempsy that
the table showed 1hr 59m from Central to Broadmeadow. In Newcastle this was
promoted as being able to get to Sydney by train in under 2 hours - however
they didn't promote the excessive fares at the time ( first class plus XPT
supplement)
