When the Flying Scotsman toured the USA in the 60's, it was fitted with the
equipment required by USA authorities; i.e. cowcatcher, Auto coupler, and a
bell. It retained the vacuum brakes though. I am not sure where the bell was
located. The train also had an auto coupler fitted to the last car.
