Heh heh, "real" rail travelers dont need platforms,
they are for city folks. :)
Across Europe (UK excepted) and the US-of-A and outside
Australian Capital Cities, platforms were something
that most folks could/did/still, do without. 

Yes, UK stock is skinny, well suited to 3'6'', can not
say the same for their European "partners" however.

Funny really, ......the country that gave the world
railways, saddled themselves with such a restrictive
railway set up, I.K. Brunel excepted.
