AS to DAR railway and jobs.

A letter to the editor in the Centralian Advocate from
Al Volpe Project Director for ADrail has pointed out
that there are 100 jobs for Territorians during
preparatory work with more jobs to come.
The railway will create 7000 direct and indirect jobs
"according to Access Economics". There will be 2000
direct jobs in the NT and SA and 1300 direct jobs
during construction.

According to Mr Volpe the Asia Pacific Transport Co has
always made it clear that the main beneficiaries from
building the line will the NT and SA and 75 percent of
the value of the goods, labour and services will come
from the NT and SA.

The letter was in response to concerns raised by the
newspaper that few jobs were going to Alice Springs.
