Carl Scully, NSW Minister for Transport was on ABC Radio this morning
stating that the Bondi Beach extension proposal had been scrapped.
Reference was made to the airport line and reluctance of passengers to pay
the high surcharges for "private" stations, and the risk that if the private
operator of the Bondi Beach extension failed to attract sufficient
patronage, the government would be forced to pick up the tab. The projected
passenger figures were said to be optimistic.
