Tasmania..ah! what a nice spot to check out.

Just spent a very hectic 6 days in Tassie.

Started off in Hobart, up to Strahan via Queenstown, and via Zeehan,
Sheffield, westbury and flew out of Launceston.
What a magnificent place!
Saw lots of Railway stuff, and will be packing the car and Caravan onto the
Ferry as soon as I can. Guess their is six months of solid Railroading at
least there!
Burnie Shire Council has announced that it wants to rebuild, or move the
Railway Station, and using Don River Expertise will try to get Railmotor
Passsenger Services up and running as soon as possible. They have options on
two Rail Motors, and promises of lease arrangements for Don Rivers own
motor.
They say they would like to run dinner tours, and would eventually like to
see trains and buses link up with the ABT at Queenstown.
Now that is a site to see!! The guys and girls at Queenstown and Strahan,
and all along the way, have done a magnificent job. It is very hard to
imagine what 25 millions can do. Imagine building Puffing Billy 22 km's in
two years, with brand new carriages, beautifully restored engines, new
bridges, all new ballast, heaps of rail works etc etc.
About 11 km's is now open, and the rest of the line is finished, I think I
was told, only waiting on the bridges.
This Railway is going to attract people from all over the
World.....Congratulations to all the Tasmanians who are keeping this Railway
a secret.....too bad,,,,,it is going to get out regardless!!

cheers
