[QLD] New Citytrain timetables

Had a quick look at some of the new Citytrain timetables this morning.
All effective 7 May.

AIRPORT LINE
There is a new booklet for this line which opens on 7 May, similar to
other lines. (Also one for the Doomben line which previously had a
fold-out bus type timetable).

Although there has been extensive advertising for a 15 min service from
the city to the airport, this is only from 5am outbound (5.35am inbound)
to 11am, then a 30 min service (formed by the Robina trains) till 2pm
when the 15 min service resumes till 8pm (8.32 inbound). As previously
mentioned on this NG, Sats are 30 min all day, with no Domestic
terminal/International terminal shuttles as foreshadowed.

As Brisbane off-peak trains run from one terminus, through the city, to
another terminus, it is impossible to provide through running except to
Robina. However, in the peaks some trains run through to other
destinations.

Bit surprising that Sunshine Coast services do not stop at Eagle
Junction. This would presumably be a good market for airport
passengers, but it is a lot of extra travel to go through to Bowen Hills
and back again (or change at Northgate AND Eagle Junction).

SUNSHINE COAST LINE
Lots of improvements here. Especially trains with an X prefix which are
ICE trains.(1 is 6car suburban, J is 3car suburban)
Mon-Fri
1918 06:20 Nambour-Roma St (arr 08:27) express Strathpine-Zillmere and
Toombul-B/Hills NOW
X940 06:27 Nambour-Roma St (arr 08:18) express Caboolture-B/Hills
stopping Northgate

X1S2 08:33 Nambour-Caboolture (arr. 09:40)connecting with the 10:02
train from Cab. to city now leaves 6 mins earlier (arr. 09:26) making a
connectin with the earlier 09:32 train.

J9A6 13:20 Nambour-Roma St (arr 15:10) now starts from Cooroy at 13:30
as X988 (But previous J9B6 2:42 Cooroy-Roma St now starts from Nambour).
At least the suburban set has become an ICE set on the Cooroy service.

NEW X9C2 20:10 Nambour-Roma St Fridays only.

XLS1 07:00 Caboolture-Nambour (connecting off the 06:33 arr. from the
city at Cab.) now runs from Roma St express as XLO1 at 05:42 through to
Nambour.

JLO3 10:53 Roma St-Nambour now X403 10:28 Roma St-Cooroy with bus
connections to Australia Zoo at Beerwah and Noosa at Cooroy. (But J4B5
12:11 Roma St-Cooroy now only goes to Nambour as JLO5 at 12:39).

1L11 18:01 all stations Roma St-Nambour (through train from Ipswich) now

XL11 18:07 R St-Nam express Bowen Hills - Caboolture, stopping Northgate
  arriving Nambour 6' earlier.

Sat.
NEW JLT1 18:58 Caboolture-Nambour connecting off 18:37 arrival from the
city.

While Caboolture-Nambour buses during the week stop at Australia Zoo,
weekend trains now have bus connections here too.

GOLD COAST LINE
Trains run through to Airport Domestic during the hours that line
operates, and some further trains during the day and weekends now run as
6 cars instead of 3. On Sat, some 6 car suburban trains are timetabled
at the same times as the interurban cars.

A surprise is the TOB3 09:18 Robina - Bowen Hills (6 cars) which,
although it now runs through to Airport Domestic is reduced to 3 cars.
This train is popular as it is the first off-peak one of the day. This
morning I saw the 08:57 departure from Helensvale to Brisbane. There
were 4 or 5 standees in each of the 3 cars. This train remains as a 3
car train. What will happen to all the extra passengers the airport
line will bring?? Shades of Sydney Airport?

Some of the Gold Coast sets (106 and 108 at least) have had longitudinal
seating in one end car right from one door to the other presumably to
take more standees.

Haven't had a good look at other timetables yet, though there appear to
be improvements to Caboolture line with the third track now operational
to Petrie.
