Five months after a renewed campaign began to upgrade Hunter Valley
passenger trains the State Government has decided to act. Transport
Minister Carl Scully used a visit to Newcastle Railway Station on Friday
to make the commitment to replace the elderly fleet of ‘red rattler’
rail cars. The move ups the government’s commitment to the
Maitland-Beresfield section of the line to over $55 million in just a
matter of months.
