observation below Cranbourne

Today, Thursday 7/6/01, I observed 2 Thiess workers at the level
crossing - South Gippsland Highway Cranbourne. One was spraying windex and
polishing the lenses on the twin red lights, whilst the other was working on
something inside the electrical cabinet.
Since the baulks are only about 20 metres on the down side of the
crossing, perhaps they are readying the warning lights and associated
electrics for at least one train to travel beyond those baulks.
