NRC comes unstuck in the Alice.

Yesterday an NR class shunting Mobil tankers managed to
spread said waggons well and truly all over the Western
end of the Alice Springs yards. The scene had the look
of a high speed derail. Questions will be asked, like
how come a shunt movement caused so much damage, like
how come a bogie was ripped out from under one of the
waggons. How come a revenue hauling NR is trapped on
the Western side of the derailment and it will remain
there until they clean up the mess.

Life goes on, but in these heady days of competition
and deregulation, anything that falls off the tracks up
this way is bound to stay that way until expertise
which used to be available locally, now comes up from
somewhere down south.

There was something comforting about the CR/ANR/AN pre
federal labor NRC-NSW-VIC, the former were always able
to look after "isolated incidents" anywhere in the most
far flung regions of their Trans Australian and Central
Australia systems quick smart.

Alice to Darwin in this new age anyone.?
