Construction of the $10 billion inland train line from Melbourne to Darwin
will start in October, project manager Everald Compton said yesterday. The
first stage will be near the border town of Goondiwindi in Queensland's
south west.

[The ATEC web site said they planned to turn the first sod at midnight on
31/12/00. It must be on schedule, just to an emended schedule.]
