Seating Provisions For Drivers & Guards

I have often wondered why State Rail believed why the drivers were
provided with an excellent seat, while the guards had a seat no better
then the passengers had. [on Sydney electric suburban sets]
Is the personal comfort for drivers more important than that of the
guards. There is no doubt that the guards have the lousy job when
compared to that of drivers.  No doubt the job is made worse by the
pathetic seating arrangements for the guards.
No wonder they have problems keeping guards.
