Well for starters, when the South Australian Gov handed
the Northern Territory back to the Feds in 1910 or
thereabouts they promised to build the North South
transcon just like they built the East West line.
Problem was, they set no date.  
And despite the Centenary of Federation and Australia
Day, Politicians are full of crap.  Back then and now.

OK for folks down South who have seen their very
expensive state government tax payer funded over many
years BILLIONS of dollars rail "infrastructure" come
and go, to criticise this North South line that should
have been in place years ago.!
