GSRs Fares

There seems to be some strange inconsistancies in GSRs fares, with the
new Gold / Red Kangaroo service.
Adelaide to Melb / Melb to Adelaide is $57 for Red Kangaroo (seat)
which seems like a reasonable price .
Adelaide to AP / AP to Adelaide is $197 for Red Kangaroo (seat)
Given that Adelaide to AP is 1300 Km against Melb to Adelaide of 850
Km , why is the fare nearly 4 times the price ,for less than double
the distance .?
Are GSR cross subsidising the Overland ?
